In the words of ozzie osbourne...

"Mama, I'm Coming Home."

Much to my delight and surprise, Evangeline is coming home on Saturday. (This is very common for twins to come home on different days, Addison will most likely me home within the week and I can bring Evangeline back to the hospital to visit her until she is home as well.) When we went into the hospital on Thursday they told us that she had eaten all of her feedings in the past 24 hours by mouth, in addition to consistently gaining weight and not having a breathing episode since the 20th. So, our favorite nurse A said, she will be going home on Friday. This really freaked me out, I did not expect her to be going home on Friday, nor did I expect only to get a 24 hour notice. With much vigor, I drove home and enlisted the help of two wonderful people to get the house read, my friend Nicole and my cousin Lindsey. (Thank you both, so much!) In the process of getting the house ready, the hospital called and said that Evangeline would have to wait until Saturday to come home due to the fact that she had not been off of her caffeine medicine for a full week yet. I have to tell you, I was relived. I am very nervous to be a new mom and to bring home such a precious little baby. At the hospital they are on monitors and the nurses are there, at home it is just Ryan and I. We will be without a net. I guess we do have an advantage over parents who go home right away as we have had three weeks to parent our babies with the nurses education. I am sure once I get her home without her wires and hold her in my comfy chair then it will all be alright.
(Notice above, no feeding tube for Evangeline!)

That is GREAT news for Evangeline coming home tomorrow! You're not alone -- John and I went through that with bringing 2 babies home at once after a week stay at the hospital. I remembered I cried telling the nurse begging her not to release me or the babies. I was not ready because of the c-section was horrible for me.

Rianna (4lbs) and Justin (6lbs) when we left the hospital. I was freaking out on the way home because Justin head was hanging down from the car seat. We pulled over a few times. I can't fit into middle seat to hold his head upward.

Just remember, take your time to enjoy bonding with Evangeline because once you bring home Addison. You may not be able to bond like the "singleton" because everything is on the go with diaper, feeding, and etc.

Let us know how the transition brining your little one at home tomorrow!

It is overwhelming to bring twins home. I had Nicholas home for 4 days before Celia joined us. Celia weighed 3#15oz when she came home. It was scary and we felt so lost, but as each day goes by it gets easier. As your previous comment said - bonding is tougher with 2. I bonded MUCH faster with Nicholas - so if you need to talk about anything (including bonding) please email me (jill from sidelines). :) Congrats! The girls are doing fabulous!

Wow, I think we can all agree how scary it is. Looking back Adam and I always say that we were lucky they got to stay in the NICU so we had someone there to help us! I think part of my tears when they said Analiese could come home were out of sheer terror!! :) Nikolas came home two days later.

Bonding was difficult for me as well. I'm just starting to stop feeling like Analiese hates me some days.

Hang in there! Keep us updated, and always know you can count on us for support!!!
